Final Call For Surveys
over 9 years ago – Fri, Sep 09, 2016 at 11:16:25 PM

Hello everyone!

As noted last time, we have almost everyone's answers for the surveys, and I don't expect the numbers to change significantly from where we are at the moment.  There are a few of you who still haven't filled out a survey, so if you would, please do so.

That said, I'm making a call and I'll be placing the production order tomorrow.  It looks like we'll be ordering around 7000 meeples altogether, which includes some leftovers that we can have on hand just in case the postal services lose something, or we get some last minute orders.  After we get all of you sorted out, we'll keep the leftovers on hand for future projects.

Thank you again, everyone!  It's been awesome, seeing these little folk come to life, and seeing the interest in them.  I'll keep you updated on information from the factory, and when I can get some more previews done for the other possible meeples in other projects.

We're also looking at making some Tinker Fudge plastic dice, which may be of interest to some of you.  I'll post more about that when I have something good to show beyond this, which is, after all, just a Photoshop concept job.  (These are all Fudge Dice, with a string/gear/rock face as a "null", scissors/tools as a "+" and a ruler/screw/paper as a "-".)

Back in a bit!

Survey Says...
over 9 years ago – Wed, Sep 07, 2016 at 11:42:46 PM

Hello everyone!

It's been crazy busy here of late, and I still don't have the dragon design prettified, but I'll get there.  I did want to note that at present, we have about 95% of the surveys in, either here or over at BackerKit.  We have picked up a couple of people via Preorders in BackerKit, which is also great, thanks!  We also have received the funding, so we're ready to order on that count.

So... it's starting to feel like waiting until the 16th to close the surveys is too long of a wait.  I'm going to crunch the numbers tonight and tomorrow, figure out a good order, then I'd really like to go ahead and get things rolling.  There's not a good way to put limits on Add Ons in Kickstarter, though, which is unfortunate.

As such, there's certainly a possibility of underestimating the order.  I always order extra, just in case something happens, and I think we'll be OK, but I wanted to get these thoughts out there and see what you all think.

Also, this is a request to please get into the system and answer your surveys if you haven't already.  Again, you don't need to do the BackerKit survey if you do the Kickstarter one, it's just a good system to pick up Add Ons and it gives us better control of the database when we're deciding what to order.

Bottom line, I'd like to place the order on September 10th.  What do you think?

Thank you everyone!

Tesh

P.S. As a point of interest, the reception and interest for the Gearpunk Beta D20 dice is fantastic, thank you!  They are the clear favorite among Add Ons, and it's great to see the interest.

BackerKit Add On Addendum
over 9 years ago – Fri, Sep 02, 2016 at 12:38:32 AM

Hello everyone!

Thank you for getting your surveys filled out, it is very helpful.  If you're curious, about two thirds of you have weighed in, and there's a 55-45 (or so) split of male to female meeples being requested, with a lot of those coming from two-gender orders.  I'm very glad that we were able to make both designs, so thank you!

I poked the BackerKit system a little and made two more Add On items active, specifically a variant of the Dual Quintet pledge tier and a variant of the Dual Octet tier.  They are simply "Set of 10" and "Set of 16" respectively, though with descriptions to help clarify what those mean.  I meant to have those live earlier, but circumstances conspired to provide otherwise.  At any rate, they are there now, albeit at the bottom of the list, so if you were looking forward to those, they are working now.

Thank you again, and we're looking forward to getting things nailed down and the big order placed!

Surveys Impending, Fairy Preview
over 9 years ago – Thu, Sep 01, 2016 at 12:20:51 AM

Hello everyone!

The guys over at BackerKit cleared up a few lingering bits of data for us, so we're prepped for launching the surveys.  You should see them in the next few hours as I try to take care of a number of things at once now that the kids are in bed.  If you don't see an email mentioning the BackerKit surveys, it might have lodged in your spam filter, so please keep an eye out.

Kickstarter has its own native surveys, and we'll send those out too to make sure everything clears through the system like it should, but they will be very simple.  You will be able to give us whatever information you need via the Kickstarter surveys, but the BackerKit surveys will be cleaner and will give us better data.  If you're doing the BackerKit surveys, you can even enter a few nonsense characters on the Kickstarter one; you don't need to go into detail if that detail is in the BackerKit database.  (As for why we do both, it's because the two different companies have their own way of doing things, but yes, the BackerKit surveys help us out much more.)

BackerKit also allows us to set up Add Ons much easier, and you can let us know what you have in mind through their almost-shopping-cart system in a far more intuitive way.  Also, they have a spiffy Preorder system, which allows anyone to jump in and pick up some of the goodies on offer.  That will be over here for as long as the surveys are open:

I'm planning to close the surveys and the Preorder system on September 16th, so please jump in and get us your data as quickly as you can (you'll be able to change your shipping address for a bit longer if it needs to be changed).  The sooner we can get a bead on how many of what meeples we'll need, the sooner we can get the production run started.

Thank you everyone!  We're greatly looking forward to getting these made and sent out to all of you!

Tesh

P.S. I mentioned that I'd like to have previewed the Dragon and Fairy meeples last week, but Real Life got in the way.  I'm still working on a clean version of the Dragon, but the Fairy is ready.  The official Fairy meeples are kind of... weird.  I took the opportunity to go in a different direction with the variant I'd like to produce.  (Character meeple designs included for scale.)  It's more of a "Magical Mechanized Dirigible" sort of Fairy, as if they were just as interested in tech as in magic.

P.P.S. I made a mistake on the surveys for the Barbershop Quintet Kickstarter survey, I'm sorry.  I forgot to make a question about which gender(s) you want.  Please let me know in the "Anything else..." question field.  Sorry about that!

On Timing, and Dames on Display
over 9 years ago – Mon, Aug 22, 2016 at 10:54:20 PM

Hello everyone!

You haven't seen the surveys yet, sorry about that.  It's been a while since I ran one of these Kickstarter campaigns, so I simply forgot that there is an approximately two-week period after the campaign when we're waiting on credit cards and other assorted "paperwork" to clear before we can send those out.  We'll send out the surveys as soon as we can, but it won't be until late next week.  I'm sorry I forgot that, but we'll get things rolling as quickly as possible.

In other news, we finally got the Dame prototype photos from the factory.  I really wanted them last week, but that's just how these things work out sometimes.  There's a collection over on our Pinterest page here;

This is my favorite of the bunch, showing the Misty Gold finish well, at the top of the heap.  It does read cleanly different from the Brass and Antiqued Brass finishes, as hoped, so we'll be using this color scheme. for clarity while playing with these little folk.

Thank you everyone!
